Life sucks... And then you get turned into a werelion...
Curvaceous, blonde bombshell Maya Josephs is looking for a little action to take her mind off of her recent break-up. Crazy werecats or not, an evening at Genesis is exactly what she needs. And when she meets the hotter than hot, super-sexy owner, Alex O'Connell, the alpha lion shifter is just the man to fit the bill for a one-night stand.
Dumped like a rotting piece of meat by her ex, Maya is on the prowl, fixin' to do whatever it takes to get herself a piece of the gorgeous furball. Besides, what's the harm in a girl having a little bit of fun?

You all know I don’t really like erotica, but I have seen some reviews about this series, and they made me curious. I do like lion shifters, as that is my zodiac sign, and as this is a Kindle freebie, I just had to try it.
And I admit, it is 80% sex and perhaps 20% story. I would have like a bit more story for sure. Maya Josephs is intent to have a night of sex and fun in Genesis, a nightclub run by shifters. Shifters are out in this world, but not much is known about them. But when Alex smells her in his club, he wants her out immediately. Tonight is a special night, and one of the few a year when their women can become pregnant. But Alex’ lion has other ideas, it smells its mate and it wants her.

And so Maya ends up in Alex’s office and his bed for the night, and slinks of the next morning, not understand that Alex has marked her as his mate, and the pack’s Prima, but has also started to change her. And a new shifter should not be loose in the world.
Maya does not understand what is happening with her, why she has this craving for raw meat, and sees people as food. But her best friend finds her in the supermarket and guesses what has happened, so she takes her home. Of course a bunny shifter cannot control a lion shifter, and Alex is called to fetch her and explain her new life to her.

I did like the glimpse of the world I saw in this book, and I liked Maya. She knows what she wants and she is going for it. But she gets more than what she bargained for, and I don’t really like that. She was changed without her knowledge or acceptance. Telling a man “yes I am yours” when having sex does not count. The sex parts have a lot of cream and creaming and that is a word I just don’t like.
Alex is the pack’s Prime, the Alpha, and his word is law. He is happy he has found his mate, and he took her, and now he will have to learn to handle her. And I think this will be fun.

It is a short novella, and perhaps there is not room for more story, but I would not mind learning more about this world. They keep humans as familiars, and I wonder why, what do those people do? It is not like the shifters can’t change into humans and do whatever is necessary.

7 stars.

  1. You're the second one I saw with this one today Aurian! I have it on my tablet to check out. It sounds like a decent start. I'm with ya on cream and creaming. Those always make me shudder just a bit. lol

  2. Novellas are just so short sometimes

  3. You'd probably would have liked "No Ifs, Ands, or Bears About It" better. Same kind of heroine and less smexy times.

  5. An erotic novella is so completely not my thing, sorry. BTW marking as your 'mate' a woman who clearly wanted just a one night stand is irresponsible and wrong. Bad kitteh.

  6. 80% of sex is maybe a lot for me as well, but I'm glad you tried it and like it. I didn't know this author I confess but I would be curious to see how it is for a full book.
