Lara Adrian – Darker after Midnight

The tenth book in the Midnight Breed series, published January 2012.

I have bought the UK version, a big format paperback. I hate the cover of it. And it is not even the same as the first pic. The fangs and blood are missing here. It looks nothing like the heroine in the book. Hate those nails.

After existing in secret for many long centuries, maintaining a fragile peace with the humans who walk beside them unaware, a single act of retaliation has put the entire vampire nation at risk of discovery. It falls to the Order-a cadre of Breed warriors pledged to protect their own and humankind alike-to stop Dragos, the power-mad vampire at the center of the conflict, before his push for domination can explode into catastrophe. At the center of the Order's quest is Sterling Chase, once a morally rigid enforcer of Breed law, now a warrior fallen from grace, whose biggest battle is the one he wages against his own savage nature. With addiction beckoning him toward eternal darkness, Chase's path to redemption has never seemed more out of reach-until he finds himself drawn to a beautiful young woman who may be something much more than she seems . . .

I am totally incapable of writing a review about this book, without spoiling anything of the many surprises in it. I’ll just say, I loved it! So if you haven’t started reading this series yet, what are you waiting for? You won’t be disappointed!

O you do want more? Well, I liked Chase and his Tavia a lot. And almost all the previous heroes and heroines make an appearance in this one. Dragos at his worst is really horrible, but there is also a new twist, that will make new books possible. Am very curious what Lara Adrian is going to do with that.

10 stars.

4 opmerkingen:

  1. I like the big cover. That's a heckuva face.

  2. Yeah, what is up with that UK cover? It's crazy, and kind of gives everything away. LOL

But I'm sooooo glad you loved the story because I did too!!!! I really hope there will be more.

  3. Oh I love the UK one! Much better then the boring US hugging ones :)

  4. Well, the cover really is not the heroine. She is white and has orange/red hair. And those nails are just horrible in my opinion.
