Genre: paranormal romance
Cover: very good, a scene from the story
Rebecca, caught by the Shifter Bureau in a forbidden area, is charged to help Walker Danielson, on military attachment to the bureau, to find a woman suspected of being abducted by Shifters. Rebecca has no choice but to agree.
Walker and Rebecca met when Walker was abducted and ended up tied up on Rebecca's floor. Now the tables are turned, and Rebecca has to go along with whatever Walker proposes. As they find themselves in danger with wild Shifters not under the Austin Shiftertown's control, Rebecca discovers what kind of strengths Walker has. The mating frenzy Walker touched when he had been Rebecca's captive now flares to life as the two fight to find the missing woman and survive the mission.
Rebecca runs to fight of the need to mate, but one evening she is pursued by hunters. They don’t even think what is a polar bear doing in Texas, they just want to kill her. They are drunk, and they are gaining on her. And so Rebecca runs into an area she should not have, and the Shifter Bureau is called by security. The price for trespassing for a Shifter is death.
But Walker, the new liaison, bargains for her freedom in his custody instead. She is under house arrest and will have to help him in this investigation. And after that, they will see what happens next.
A few months ago a young woman disappeared, and her sister claims she was abducted by Shifters, as she is a Shifter groupie. Local law enforcement has searched the town a few times, but could find no lead, and now Walker is determined to find the missing woman. The sister is now the mate of Roderick, a Wolf Shifter and the Beta of the local ShifterTown.
Disguised as groupies themselves, Rebecca and Walker set out to scout the more rough Shifter bars in the region, to find out if anyone knew the missing woman.
But what they find, is much more than what they expected. And it takes Dylan’s name to stay alive …
I love Bear shifters, so I was really interested to read Rebecca’s story. She is a female and the mating urge is close. But so far, she has not found a Shifter she would like as her mate. For a one night stand, sure, but no more than that. And then there is the human Walker, he stood his ground against her, and she certainly is attracted to him. But can he deal being with a Bear Shifter?
I really liked Rebecca and Walker together, they are both strong characters, and survivors. Walker doesn’t back down from Rebecca, even though she could easily kill him in her bear form. I loved that he just moved in to Ronan’s shed and lived in their back yard. The attraction between them is so strong, but they did not immediately act upon it.
The mystery is a good one, and certainly a new story line is born here. I can’t wait to read the next book!
