Peggy:
I have read 12 books in the past month, and the 3 books I enjoyed the most are:
1. Kristen Ashley – At peace
2. Lynn J. – Trust in me
3. Kristen Proby – Come away with me
The one I can recommend to all Aurian’s readers is:
Kristen Ashley – At peace
Violet Winters once had it all but lost it when her husband was murdered by a criminal madman. During a cold winter night Violet has to leave her warm bed to tell her neighbor to turn the music down. And that's when she meets sinister, scarred, scarily attractive security specialist, Joe Callahan.
She wants to deny it, but Violet can't beat back the hunger she feels for Joe so she gives in again and again. Feeling it himself, Joe feeds Vi's hunger, breaking his own rules to keep her in his bed.
Even though Violet had only one man in her life, she's sure Joe is giving her the signals and Vi decides she's ready to take a second chance at life and, maybe, love. But Violet doesn't know the dark secrets in Joe's past, secrets so soul-wrenching, they've drained him dry. With nothing left to give, Joe's determined to live his life alone and he breaks Violet's heart.
Crushed by Joe's betrayal, Violet comes to terms with the fact that, no matter what signals he gave, Joe was not theirs to win. But Violet's husband's murderer is obsessed with her and heartbreak again haunts the door of the Winters home. When it does Joe is forced to face the knowledge that he can't fight Violet's pull, she's under his skin and filled him full to bursting.
Joe needs to win her back and put his life on the line to keep Violet safe. But, having had it all once, can Violet endure losing Joe?
Peggy:
This is the second book in The ‘Burg series. I must confess that I haven’t read the first book in this series, for the simple fact that I didn’t had it at the time and I really wanted to read this book. But that wasn’t a problem, you don’t have to read the first book to read this one.
Violet Winters is a widow with two teenage daughters. Her husband was a cop and is murdered by a criminal. That criminal is now stalking her, so she has moved to another city, in the hopes that he will lose interested in her and leave her alone. She now lives in a quiet little town, in a quiet street. Except on that one night when her neighbour’s music is keeping her out of her sleep. After hours of listening to the music, she can’t stand it anymore and goes to his house to tell him to turn the music down. That’s when she meets Joe Callahan, a security specialist. He’s big, scarred (and hot). They start a passionate affair. It wasn’t what they had planned but the hunger is stronger than their will. But Joe has been hurt in the past so he doesn’t do emotions anymore and the moment he starts having feelings for Violet, he finished their affair. Leaving Violet and her girls alone and hurt.
But when they need him the most, he’s there for them. He realizes then that what he feels is much stronger than the pain of the past. He wants to be with Violet and her daughters.
Now he just has to prove it to Violet and her girls and he also needs to keep them safe because her stalker has found her and he won’t stop this time until he has her.
I discovered Kristen Ashley’s books a few months ago. I really love her books.
The men are really hot and dominant but the women are also strong. They’re not afraid to say what’s on their mind (and they sure can talk).
But what I especially like, are all the people (friends, family,..) who walk around in the books and who also have an opinion about everyone and everything but in the end, they are really loyal, (sometimes crazy), best friends.
Aurian:
A great list Peggy, I haven’t read these books or authors before. How about you, reader?
