Koko is a remarkable male Siamese who happens to have sixty whiskers instead of the usual forty-eight. Yum Yum is an adorable female who will steal anything-including hearts. James Qwilleran is a columnist for The Moose County Something who had recorded his cats' exploits in his personal journal since the day each arrived in his life. And Lilian Jackson Braun is the beloved creator of them all! This delightful collection of feline antics will warm the hearts of cat lovers everywhere.

The Cat Who was the first cozy mystery series I ever read (in Dutch) so when I discovered this new to me book at the book fair for only € 1,49 I snatched it up. Sadly, the book is not really worth the money. It is filled with very very short stories and childish pictures, reaching back to the books. So if you have read the series, there is really nothing new in this book to discover. It is like memories from Jim Qwilleran about his cats, when he first got them and their antics.

If you have never read the series, I also don’t think this is a book for you even if you are a cat lover. It is just snippets really. You won’t get a feeling for the books or the series. If you have only read a few of the books, perhaps then you might like it and let it lure you back to reading more books.

And I really, really do recommend the series itself to all cat lovers and cozy mystery readers.

2 stars out of 10.

  3. Oh I'm sorry it wasn't that good. I'm always anxious when we have pets in books, not usually my thing.

  4. It just doesn't add anything new Felicia, but the series itself is very good. A bit dated by now I guess.
