The first book in the Petaybee series.
Strange things were happening on the icy planet called Petaybee. Unauthorized genetically engineered species had been spotted, while some people were simply disappearing. None of the locals were talking to the company, so the company sent disabled combat veteran Yanaba Maddock to spy. But a strange thing happened. With her relocation to the arctic planet came a return of Yana's health and strength. And the more she got to know the people of Petaybee, the more determined she became to protect her new home....
It’s been awhile since I read a good sf story. A newly made planet, strange new animals and nice people, and the greed of a large company wanting the minerals they could spot from the sky, but now on the land itself. Are the natives really sabotaging the expeditions, killing the scientists, or is it something else completely?
I loved the book. I liked the main characters, and am eager to continue the second book in this series. A sentient planet, adapting the animals, plants and even the people who inhabited her skin to the needs of her harsh and cold climate.
The greedy company people, who cannot believe that which is not scientifically proven to be true. The people must be hallucinating, sabotaging, human errors. But not something this impossible to believe.
Due to a harsh headache, not able to write a good review of this book, but I do recommend it!
