We're the D'Artigo sisters: savvy half-human, half-Fae operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. My sister Camille is a wicked-good witch with three gorgeous husbands. Menolly is a vampire married to a werepuma. And me? I'm Delilah, a two-faced werecat and a Death Maiden. While the war in Otherworld is expanding, so is my newly renamed PI business. And my next case is about to make life very interesting...
While waiting for Shadow Wing's next move, I decide to revamp my ragtag PI agency into the Cat's Eye Investigations firm. My first client turns out to be our cousin Daniel. During the grand reopening for the Wayfarer, he shows up while being chased by a rampaging ghost. Daniel has procured a rare and valuable sword, and a ring of ghostly warriors comes attached to it. Protectors of the soul trapped within it, the spirits are out to stop anybody who threatens the weapon. As my sisters and I unravel the history of the sword, we quickly realize that the entity locked within the blade is a dangerous king from times gone by - and he's about to break free and try to recover his crown...
It is life as usual for the D'Artigo sisters, never a moment rest, fulltime action and danger and saving the world. This book is filled with discoveries, and all their lives are about to change again. Delilah is the only living Death Maiden, beholden to the Autumn Lord, and part of her duties is escorting souls to their destiny, either good or bad. Her powers are increasing and evolving and that is not easy for her.
Menolly has to learn to be a wife, and that is not easy for her, as she is not used to showing her feelings and emotions. She would much rather be the husband and get away with a grunt and forgetting important occasions.
And Camille (my favourite sister with the three husbands) is facing a change in her destiny she is not happy about. I do wonder if their cousin Morgaine killed herself in her grief, or if Aeval helped her with that, just to get her hands on Camille …
Not much progress on their fight against Shadowwing, and the search for the soul Jewels, only that a new demon General is on its way Earthside. I do wish that storyline would progress a little more, even though I do love this series so much, it is time for that ARC to come to a conclusion so they can have new adventures or just continue with what is happening now.
It is a series I really love, but you should not jump in at the end, or even in the middle. This is a series to read from the beginning so you can follow their long and dangerous road and understand who all the main characters are. And there are a lot of them.
8 stars.

It feels like I need a new series...soon
BeantwoordenVerwijderenShe just started one B, I do recommend it.
VerwijderenAt least you are still loving it even if the ARC needs to make significant progress. I so want to read all of these.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLol that will keep you busy for a few weeks Melissa!
VerwijderenSounds like an interesting series but wow, there are a lot of them! :)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYes and I really don't recommend just starting somewhere Stormi.
VerwijderenI am behind in this one. Loved the first few books but by book ten it started to drag so much....I don't think I have picked up an installment for nearly two years. Maybe it is time to try and get back into it.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYes, lots of things happen, mostly bad though Amber. And I think the main ARC has gotten lost somewhere in all the characters.
