From today's most provocative authors come four tales of urban fantasy and paranormal romance exploring body art that is more than it seems-in a world of magic and mayhem that always leaves its mark.
This captivating tattoo theme surrounds each author's popular characters and worlds: Karen Chance's war mage Lia de Croissets, Marjorie M. Liu's demon-hunter Maxine Kiss, Yasmine Galenorn's Otherworld Intelligence Agency operative Camille D'Artigo, and Eileen Wilk's Lupi world.

I did buy this book when it came out in 2010, but I think I only read the Yasmine Galenorn story, and that is why is was put back on my shelves. This time I read the whole book, as I read all 4 authors now.

The Karen Chance story Skin Deep features a new heroine, who is just as determined as Cassie Palmer, and as fearless about her own life. I really enjoyed this, and I am determined to finish the books in the Cassie Palmer series and Dorina Basarab series that are still unread, soon.

Marjorie M. Liu takes her heroine, Maxine Kiss, back in time where she meets her grandmother fighting in World War II in Armor of Roses. That one was good, but a bit disturbing as well, as for the demon she fought. Still, it makes me want to start re-reading the whole series, and then finish it, as I never did that.

Yasmine Galenorn tells the story off how her heroine Camille D'Artigo meets her first husband in Etched in Silver. Even re-reading it, it was wonderful. This was before the sisters came Earthside on their assignments, and before Delilah was turned into a vampire.

What was also a very good coincidence, was reading Eileen Wilks short story Human Nature, which fits exactly where I am in reading the series. I loved catching up with Rule and Lily. Lily is an amazing heroine, and is certainly not blinded by Rule and his high-handedness at times where it concerns his wolves. I will certainly continue reading the series.

Amazing, but true, an anthology with 4 good stories. If you like these 4 series and authors, I do recommend reading this anthology.

9 stars.

  4. oh this just looks fantastic. I love anthologies like this. I really have enjoyed reading Marjorie Liu...but haven't read her in a while. Need to return back to her. I haven't read the other authors though, but I see that needs to change. Great review!
